5 Questions on Sterling Silver - Answered

What is Sterling 925 Silver?

Sterling silver is a high quality silver alloy that contains 92.5% pure silver. The additional 7.5% is comprised of other additional metals such as copper.

What’s the difference between Solid Sterling Silver and Silver Plated Jewellery?

Solid Sterling Silver Jewellery contains mostly silver with 7.5% of other metals. This means it is higher in value due to the higher content of pure silver and is more durable for long term use.

Silver Plated Jewellery contains mostly additional metals with a thin silver coating on the outside. This means it is lower in value and maintenance is required to preserve the top layer of silver coating.

You’ll be able to tell the difference between the two by looking for the 925 silver stamp as only solid sterling silver pieces will have this.

Can I wear Sterling Silver everyday?

Yes you can! We heavily recommend decorating yourself with silver treacle on the daily, although we may be biased. Sterling Silver is fine to wear everyday as long as you care for your pieces properly. Please see our care guide on our product pages.

Is it ok to get Sterling Silver Jewellery wet?

Yes and no. It is fine to get sterling silver wet momentarily but it is recommended not to bathe, shower or swim with your Sterling Silver jewellery on. Chemicals found in perfumes and lotions etc can also cause harm to your pieces so it is best to apply those before you adorn yourself in silver treacle.
